Adaptive Leadership in Times of COVID-19 Crisis

Designed for leaders in the public and development sectors, the course will impart the basic framework of adaptive leadership to manage complex change and to navigate through difficult community behavior and engagements in times of crisis. The course will feature exemplary leaders who will share their experiences and best practices in addressing technical and adaptive challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.

Course Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences have highlighted the key role of effective local leadership in managing the course of such crisis. Designed for leaders in the public and development sectors, the course aims to introduce and contextualize the basic framework of adaptive leadership to manage complex change and to navigate through difficult community behavior and engagements in times of crisis, particularly amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Focused on the application and contextualization of these concepts, the course will feature exemplary leaders who will share their experiences and best practices in addressing technical and adaptive challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.

The course is comprised of six (6) sessions tackling various aspects of the Adaptive Leadership framework. The discussion is anchored on the sharing of experiences and best practices by local government and organization leaders in the frontiers of COVID response.

The course is open to all elected public officials and leaders in local NGOs, CSOs, and community-based organizations who have at least three (3) years of leadership experience. Designed to address COVID-specific challenges, the course requires participants’ direct involvement in their community’s pandemic response.

Learning Objectives

  1. To identify and analyze adaptive challenges within the organization and in the community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. To increase participation of the community and other stakeholders in managing and addressing crisis.
  3. To design comprehensive, inclusive, and community-based solutions to pandemic-related challenges.

Target Participants

  • Elected local government leaders, local NGO, CSO, and community leaders.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least three (3) years of leadership experience.
  • Must be actively engaged in COVID-19 responses in their communities.
